Implant Dentistry

Dental implants can vastly improve both the appearance of your smile and your oral health following oral trauma or disease.

An implant is a synthetic tooth root, usually made of titanium, in the shape of a post that is surgically placed into the jawbone. A replacement tooth, either permanent or removable, is then fixed to the post.

The ideal candidate for implants is a non-smoker who has good oral health, including a sufficient amount of bone in the jaw and healthy gums with no sign of gum disease.

Single or Multiple Implants

If you are only missing one tooth, one implant and replacement tooth is enough; however, if you are missing several teeth in a row, a few strategically placed implants can support a permanent bridge (a set of replacement teeth). Similarly, if you have lost all of your teeth, a full bridge or full denture can be permanently fixed in your mouth with a strategic number of implants.

Implant Advantages

Traditional bridges and dentures can be unstable, making it difficult to confidently eat or smile. Implants not only look more natural, but also feel and act more like strong, normal teeth. And because they don’t directly rely on neighbouring teeth for support, implants don’t compromise the health of your natural teeth.

Cost of Implants

Dental implants tend to cost more than other solutions since they are a long-term solution requiring less maintenance. Ask us about financing options at your consultation.

Post-Treatment Care

You will receive care instructions when your treatment is completed. Your implants need to be treated with the same care as your natural teeth, including daily brushing, water flossing, and regular checkups with Dr. Di Santo. Just like your natural teeth, the better you take care of your replacements, the longer they will last.
